Technology transfer is defined as the “transition of supply responsibility” from the current source of supply to the future source of supply in compliance with current Quality and Regulatory procedures and policies.
The technology transfer process is used to manage product transfers between donor and recipient sites. It is implemented to improve the management, planning, scheduling and forecasting of all transfers of technology within a company or between companies. Its purpose is to establish a consistent and common process for all technology and product transfers including a standard method of progress measures.
The Technology Transfer Process is a systematic approach to managing and tracking all technology transfer projects. Each project needs to be planned appropriately in order to be able to manage activities and achieve milestones. Milestones are standardized for all projects which allows the tracking of progress for all projects at the same time.
